Yellowstone - Part 1

We are home!

Yeah!

Now I get to bore you with our 2 million, 3 hundred and 57 pictures that we took of our vacation to Yellowstone

I bet you can hardly wait...

Well, I will actually try to keep it short since I have given myself a small migraine just looking through these myself.

Here are the highlights:

1. Our campsite. We decided to risk it and not stay in a campground that requires reservations (Norris). Mark woke us all up at 5 am in order to enter the park and find a good spot and actually it's lucky he did as we totally lucked out and got the best site there! We overlooked a meadow, didn't have anyone super close to us and we had a little creek right below us - Perfect!

Owen could even watch the buffalo from our campfire area.

2. Our hikes. We had a blast going along various trails and seeing all the different sites that Yellowstone has to offer.

3. Our freedom of time. Since we were in the park for 7 days we had lots and lots of time to do and see everything we wanted to. Each night we would sit down as a family and each of us would pick what we would like to do the next day. Caleb's #1 thing was to see Old Faithful.

Owen loved looking for animals and we would spot them in the coolest places. Here is a buffalo right next to Roaring Mountain (a thermal area). Apparently they like the warm ground quite a bit.

My first pick was Mammoth Hot Springs. It has some really nice boardwalk trails that aren't too long for the boys as well as some really cool things to look at.

Plus the gift shop sells Moose Tracks ice cream - that made it a no-brainer pick for me!

4. Our afternoons. Each afternoon if we were at our campsite, the boys would suit up and go play in the creek. They built armories and battle stations in the sand, splashed and played in the water and jumped in making the biggest splashes. Mark, of course, had to jump in as well!

More pictures coming tomorrow! All the animals and more!
